The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Marriage Act Amendment Act, 1876.”

“The Marriage Act Amendment Act, 1867,” is hereby repealed.

The Schedule D to “The Marriage Act, 1854,” (hereinafter called “the said Act,”) is hereby repealed, and the Schedule hereto is inserted in lieu thereof.

All officiating ministers registered under the said Act in respect of the United Church of England and Ireland shall be deemed to be duly registered as officiating ministers of the religious body first named in the Schedule to this Act.

And all officiating ministers registered under the said Act in respect of the other religious bodies named in the said Schedule shall be deemed to be duly registered as such officiating ministers under the said Act and this Act.

The certificate required by the forty-second section of the said Act, to be made by some person or persons having ecclesiastical authority, may, in default of any person having such authority, be made under the hands of two duly recognised office-holders in the religious body in respect of which such certificate is granted: Provided that it shall be necessary to send in such certificate anew to the Registrar-General in the month of December in each year.
