An Act to extend the Boundaries of the Municipality of Milton.
Preamble.
WHEREAS under and by virtue of the powers conferred upon the Superintendent of the Province of Otago by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Otago, made and passed in the twenty-ninth year of the reign of Her Majesty the Queen, and intituled “An Ordinance to amend ‘The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,’”
the said Superintendent did, by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, published on the eleventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, under his hand and under the Seal of the Province of Otago, and dated the eleventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, extend the provisions of “The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,”
to the Township of Milton, by and under the name of the Corporation of the Town of Milton, and the boundaries of such municipality created by the said Proclamation are given in the said Proclamation: And whereas it is expedient to extend the boundaries of the said municipality, so as to include the area set forth in the Schedule hereto:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Milton Municipality Extension Act, 1876.”
2 Boundaries of municipality extended.
The said Municipality of Milton shall, in addition to the area set forth in the said Proclamation, include the area set forth and described in the Schedule hereto, as fully and effectually as if the same had been originally included in the said Proclamation; and if the said area described in the Schedule is in any road district the same shall, on the passing of this Act, cease to be part of the said road district.
Schedule
All that area in the Province of Otago containing by admeasurement eighty-one (81) acres two (2) roods and four (4) poles, more or less, being parts of Sections numbered respectively 130, 131, 132, and 91b, Block XVI., and of 102, Block XII., Tokomairiro Survey District. Bounded towards the North-west by a line commencing at the western corner of Section 134, Block· XVII., Tokomairiro District, proceeding in a north-easterly direction along the Main South Road, one thousand and three (1003) links; thence crossing the Main South Road at a right angle in a north-westerly direction to a point two hundred and fourteen (214) links distant from the north-western side of the Main South Road; thence at a right angle in a north-easterly direction, two-hundred and thirty-five (235) links; thence at a right angle in a north-westerly direction, three hundred and forty-six (346) links; thence at a right angle in a north-easterly direction, one thousand six hundred and sixty-two (1662) links; thence at a right angle in a southeasterly direction, three hundred and ten (310) links, to a point two hundred and fifty (250) links distant from the Main South Road; and thence at a right angle in a northeasterly direction across Sections 131 and 130, Block XVI., three thousand and thirty (3030) links; thence crossing the District Road in the same direction to Section 102, Block XII., sixty (60) links; thence at a right angle along the north-eastern boundary of the said road line in a north-westerly direction, three hundred (300) links; thence at an angle in a north-easterly direction across Section 102, Block XII., one thousand five hundred (1500) links, to a point five hundred and fifty (550) links from the Main South Road; and thence at an angle along the north-eastern boundary of Section 102, Block XII., in a north-westerly direction, to the eastern boundary of the Dunedin and Clutha Railway, one thousand six hundred and twenty-five (1625) links; thence along the said eastern boundary of said railway in a southerly direction across Section 102, Block XII., to the District Road in a curved line, one thousand six hundred and thirty-six (1636) links; thence across District Road in same curved line to Section 130, Block XVI., sixty-two (62) links; thence in a south-westerly direction along said railway boundary in a curved line, one thousand five hundred and twenty-two (1522) links, and by said railway boundary in a straight line, one thousand one hundred and nineteen (1119) links; thence in a south-south-westerly and south-westerly direction by railway yard, eastern boundary, three hundred and fifty (350) links, and one thousand and fifty-eight (1058) links to southern corner of said railway yard; thence in a north-westerly direction by said railway yard, one hundred and sixty-one (161) links; thence in a south-westerly direction by the railway boundary curved line to the Tokomairiro River, north branch, six hundred and ninety (690) links; thence along the said Tokomairiro River bank, east side, to the Main South Road, three thousand three hundred and seventy-five (3375) links; thence across said South Main Road to the western corner of Section 134, Block XVII., Tokomairiro District, the starting point. The above described area to be added to West Ward.
