An Act to authorize the Municipal Corporation of Wellington to deal with Land belonging to them.

  • Preamble

    WHEREAS the Municipal Corporation of the City of Wellington are possessed of certain land, and it is expedient to enable them to deal with the same in manner hereinafter mentioned, subject and without prejudice nevertheless to any special trusts affecting the same:

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

  • The Short Title of this Act shall be The Wellington Corporate Land Act 1876.

2 Land in Schedule hereto vested in Corporation

  • The land described in the Schedule to this Act shall, in addition to any other lands now vested in the Corporation in fee-simple, be deemed to be vested in the Corporation in fee-simple.

3 Corporation may dispose of land described in Schedule

  • The Corporation may dispose of, either by way of sale or exchange for other hereditaments situate within the said city, the land described in the Schedule to this Act, upon such terms and conditions as they shall think fit, and may apply all or any of the money received by them upon any such sale, or by way of equality or exchange, in such manner for the benefit of the said city as they shall think fit and expedient, and may convey the same to the purchaser thereof, or the person giving other land in exchange, by deed under the seal of the Corporation.

Schedule

ALL those four parcels of land forming part of the Te Aro Pa Reserve, and being the Lots numbered 39, 40, 41, and 43 purchased by the Corporation at auction at the Crown Lands Office, Wellington, on the twenty-fifth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.
