An Act to amend “The Gold-Mining Districts Act, 1873.”
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Gold-Mining Districts Act 1873 Amendment Act, 1878.”
2 Interpretation of terms “water-race,”
“race.”
The term “water-race”
or “race,”
in “The Gold Mining Districts Act, 1873,”
shall include any artificial channel, or ditch, or tail-race, for the conveyance of water, or water and refuse, and also the natural bed of any river, creek, or gully through which water is diverted or conveyed, either for mining purposes or for the purpose of driving machinery, for irrigation, or for any industrial pursuit.
