An Act to repeal certain Enactments relating to the Qualification and Registration of Electors of Members of the House of Representatives.
Preamble.
WHEREAS in the present session of Parliament the law relating to the qualification and registration of electors of members of the House of Representatives, contained in divers Acts and parts of Acts, has been consolidated and amended, and it is expedient therefore to repeal the said Acts and parts of Acts:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Electoral Acts Repeal Act, 1879.”
2 Repeal of Acts.
The several Acts and parts of Acts mentioned in the Schedule to this Act, to the extent to which such Acts and parts of Acts are in and by the said Schedule expressed to be repealed, shall be and the same are hereby repealed.
Provided always that this repeal shall not affect the past operation of any enactment hereby repealed.
3 Saving of existing rolls.
Saving of elections, &c., pending.
Notwithstanding the repeal of any enactment by this Act All electoral rolls in force at the commencement of this Act shall continue in force until the first new electoral rolls to be made after the passing of this Act shall come into force.
All enactments hereby repealed, and all appointments and acts, matters, or things made or done thereunder respectively, shall continue in full force and effect for the purpose of conducting, continuing, and completing any election pending at the commencement of this Act, and all matters incident or relating thereto, and for the purpose of prosecuting inflicting and enforcing all offences punishments and penalties incurred under any of the said enactments in respect of, or in connection with, any such election or arising therefrom.
4 Governor to declare time when new rolls come into force.
Provided always that the Governor shall, by Proclamation in the Gazette, appoint some day to be therein stated whereon each new electoral roll to be made as aforesaid shall come into force.

—in part, namely, sections 7, 8, 42, and so much of section 41 as relates to the registration and revision of lists of persons qualified to vote at elections.
