An Act to give greater Facilities for the Erection of Fences in Bush Districts.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Fencing Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1882,”
and it shall be read and construed together with “The Fencing Act, 1881,”
herein referred to as “the said Act.”
2 Person entitled to fence may clear bush for twelve feet on each side of line of fence.
Where any fence is required to be erected on land covered with standing bush, and the notices required in the said Act have been given, the person erecting such fence shall be entitled to clear the bush for a width not exceeding twelve feet on each side along the entire length of such fence, and may fell any tree standing in the immediate line of such fence; and the cost of such clearing shall be added to the cost of the erection of such fence, and be apportioned accordingly.
3 Plantations not to be felled.
Nothing in this Act contained shall empower any person to fell or cause to be felled any ornamental plantation or any belt or patch of standing bush preserved for shelter which is not more than three chains in width.
