An Act to amend “The Bills of Exchange Act, 1883.”
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand, in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Bills of Exchange Act 1883 Amendment Act, 1884.”
2 Inland and foreign bills.
Subsection one of section four of “The Bills of Exchange Act, 1883,”
is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof it is provided as follows: (1.) An “Inland Bill”
is a bill which is, or on the face of it purports to be, (a) both drawn and payable within Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, or Fiji Islands; or (b) drawn within Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, or Fiji Islands upon some person resident therein. Any other bill is a foreign bill.
3 Section 96 of “Bill of Exchange Act, 1883,”
repealed excepting as to North Island.
From and after the passing of this Act the ninety-sixth section of “The Bills of Exchange Act, 1883,”
shall be and is hereby repealed, excepting in so far as the same applies to the North Island of the Colony of New Zealand.
