An Act to remedy certain Errors and Omissions in “The Middle Island Half-caste Crown Grants Act, 1877,” and “The Middle Island Half-caste Grants Act, 1883.”

Preamble.

WHEREAS certain errors and omissions have been found to have occurred in the Schedules appended to “The Middle Island Half-caste Crown Grants Act, 1877,” and “The Middle Island Half-caste Grants Act, 1883,” and it is expedient to rectify the same:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Middle Island Half-caste Grants Act, 1885.”

2 Grants of land to half-castes in Schedule A.

It shall be lawful for the Governor to execute Crown grants in favour of the half-castes named in Schedule A of this Act, for the sections of land set opposite their names respectively.

3 Land set apart for grantees in Schedule C.

Notwithstanding anything contained in “The Public Reserves Sale Act, 1878,” the lands described in Schedule B of this Act shall be and are hereby set apart for the purpose of grants of land to the half-castes named in Schedule C to this Act; and it shall be lawful for the Governor to execute Crown grants in favour of the said persons for the areas set opposite their names respectively.

4 Act of 1877 amended.

Schedule A of “The Middle Island Half-caste Crown Grants Act, 1877,” is hereby amended by the omission therefrom of the name and figures following, that is to say,—

5 Act of 1883 amended.

Schedule A of “The Middle Island Half-caste Grants Act, 1883,” is hereby amended by the omission therefrom of the names and figures following, that is to say,—

6 Repeal.

Section three and Schedule B of “The Middle Island Half-caste Grants Act, 1883” are hereby repealed.
