WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date the fifteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the seventeenth day of November then instant, and which said Order in Council purported to be issued under authority of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand did extend the time for holding the election of the Mayor of the Borough of Tauranga and the election of the Mayor of the City of Dunedin respectively from Wednesday, the thirtieth day of November then instant, to Thursday, the first day of December then next: And whereas doubts have been raised as to the power of the Governor in Council so to extend such time of election as aforesaid, and it is expedient to remove such doubts and to make provision as hereinafter set forth:
