An Act to continue the Primage Duty.
MOST GRACIOUS SOVEREIGN,—We, Your Majesty’s most dutiful and loyal subjects, the House of Representatives of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, towards raising the necessary supplies to defray Your Majesty’s public expenses, and making an addition to the public revenue, have freely and voluntarily resolved to give and grant unto Your Majesty the duty hereinafter mentioned, and do therefore most humbly beseech Your Majesty that, it may be enacted: And be it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Primage Duty Act, 1890.”
2 Primage duty of 1 per cent. to be levied up to and including 30th September, 1890.
Until and including the thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, there shall be levied, collected, and paid to and for the use of Her Majesty, on all goods, wares, and merchandise imported into the colony (with the exception of live animals and specie), at the time of making perfect entry therefor, a primage duty of one pound per centum on the true and real value thereof, as such value is defined in “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,”
as amended by “The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888.”
3 Act deemed in operation on 30th June, 1890.
This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on and from the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety.
