An Act to remedy all Technical Defects in the Appointment of the President of the Arbitration Court.
Preamble.
WHEREAS his Honour Mr. Justice Theophilus Cooper has acted as President of the Court of Arbitration under “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900,”
from the date of his appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court: And whereas his appointment as President was not formally made and gazetted in manner prescribed by that Act, and it is expedient to remedy such defect:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Arbitration Court President Validation Act, 1901.”
2 Appointment as President validated.
His Honour Mr. Justice Theophilus Cooper shall be deemed to have been validly appointed President of the Court of Arbitration under “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900,”
on the twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one, being the date of his appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court, and his term of office as President shall be deemed to have commenced on that date accordingly in like manner as if his appointment as President had been then duly made and gazetted in manner prescribed by the said Act.
