An Act to further amend the Law of Evidence.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Evidence Further Amendment Act, 1901.”
2 Extension of cases in which witness may be examined.
Section five of “The Evidence Further Amendment Act, 1895,”
is hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof it is enacted that in any proceeding in any Court or before any Justices for the breach of any enactment relating to—
(1.)
The duties of Customs;
(2.)
Stamp duties;
(3.)
The public revenues;
(4.)
The sale of intoxicating liquors;
(5.)
Distillation; or
(6.)
Beer duty,—
and in any action or other proceeding in any Court brought by or on behalf of or against the Crown, under or in pursuance of the provisions of any such enactment, the Judge or the Justices may require any person to be examined as a witness.
