An Act to provide for the Payment of Members of the General Assembly.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Payment of Members Act, 1901.”
2 Annual sum payable to members of the General Assembly.
(1.)
Every member of the General Assembly shall be entitled to receive payment in relation to his attendance in the discharge of his parliamentary duties at the rate of two hundred pounds per annum if a member of the Legislative Council, and three hundred pounds per annum if a member of the House of Representatives.
Repeal.
(2.)
This section is in substitution for the first paragraph of section four of “The Payment of Members Act, 1892,”
which paragraph is hereby accordingly repealed.
3 Deduction in case of absence.
Subsection one of section five of “The Payment of Members Act, 1892,”
is hereby amended by the insertion of the word “fourteen”
in lieu of the word “five”
where the same occurs in the said subsection.
