An Act to amend “The Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1894.”

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1902.”

2 Amendments of 1894 Act.

“The Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1894,” is hereby amended as follows:—

(1.)

As to the First Schedule thereto,—

(a.)

By raising the maximum in each reference in the First Division to £800, £750, and £700 respectively.

(b.)

By raising the maximum of Postmasters, 4th Grade, to £180, by an additional annual increment of £5.

(2.)

As to the Second Schedule thereto,—

(a.)

By raising the minimum of Linemen, 1st Grade, to £135; and the maximum to £150 by three annual increments of £5.

(b.)

By raising the minimum of Letter-carriers, 1st Grade, to £135; and the maximum to £150 by three annual increments of £5.

(c.)

By raising the minimum of Letter-carriers, 2nd Grade, to £105; and the maximum to £125 by one annual increment of £10 and two of £5.

(d.)

By raising the minimum of Letter-carriers, 3rd Grade, to £60; and the maximum to £100 by three annual increments of £10 and two of £5.

(e.)

By raising the minimum of Post-office Messengers, 1st Grade, to £105; and the maximum to £140 by two annual increments of £10 and three of £5.

(f.)

By raising the minimum of Post-office Messengers, 2nd Grade, to £60; and the maximum to £95 by three annual increments of £10 and one of £5.

(g.)

By providing a class for Post-office Sorters, £90 to, £150 per annum, by six annual increments of £10.

(3.)

As to the Third Schedule thereto,—

(a.)

By fixing the Assistant Counter Clerks’ (Telegraph) annual increments at five of £10 each.

(b.)

By fixing the Assistant Despatch Clerks’ annual increments at seven of £10 each.

(c.)

By fixing the Distributors’ annual increments at three of £10 each.

3 Preceding section retrospective.

The last preceding section shall have effect from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and two.

4 Distributors’ service to count for seniority.

Every distributor appointed since the thirteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, shall be entitled to count his service for seniority, anything in section six of “The Post and Telegraph Classification and Regulation Act, 1890,” to the contrary notwithstanding.
