An Act to authorise the Construction of certain Railways.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1902.”
2 Certain railways authorised.
(1.)
The Governor may from time to time, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty, undertake or enter into contracts for the construction of the railways mentioned in the Schedule hereto to the extent specified in such Schedule.
(2.)
The cost of constructing such railways shall be paid out of moneys appropriated for that purpose by the General Assembly.
3 Act to be deemed a special Act.
This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act authorising the construction of such railways to the extent specified in such Schedule, within the meaning and for the purposes of “The Public Works Act, 1894,”
and its amendments, which Acts are, so far as applicable, hereby incorporated with this Act.

| 1. Helensville Northwards | An extension from a point on the southern boundary of Section 8, Block XVI., Otamatea Survey District, to Maungaturoto, Length, about twenty-three miles. |
| 2. Gisborne-Karaka | An extension from the left bank of the Waipaoa River to Karaka. Length, about five miles and a quarter. |
