An Act to extend the Rating-powers of Road Boards and Town Boards.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Road and Town Districts Rating Act, 1903.”
2 Increase of rating-power.
The maximum general rate that may be made and levied in any year in any road or town district shall be a rate of three halfpence in the pound on the capital value of the rateable property of the district, or its equivalent on the unimproved value, or two shillings in the pound on the annual value, as the case may be.
3 Separate rates in road districts divided into subdivisions.
(1.)
In road districts divided into subdivisions, no separate rates made and levied in any year shall, together with the general rates, exceed in any subdivision the amount of the maximum general rate aforesaid.
Repeal.
(2.)
Section one hundred and seventeen of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,”
is hereby repealed.
