An Act to amend “The Workers’ Dwellings Act, 1905.”
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Workers’ Dwellings Act Amendment Act, 1906”
; and it shall form part of and be read together with “The Workers’ Dwellings Act, 1905”
(hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”
).
2 Definition of “worker”
amended.
Section two of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the words “one hundred and fifty-six”
in the definition of “worker,”
and substituting in lieu thereof the words “two hundred.”
3 Preference to applicant who has the lesser income.
Where more workers than one apply for the same workers’ dwelling, preference may be given to him who has the lesser income, provided he is of good character, and the Board is satisfied as to his ability to pay the rent.
