An Act to authorize and validate certain Expenditure by Local Authorities.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows;—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Local Authorities Indemnity Act, 1913.
2 Interpretation.
In this Act the term “local authority”
means a Borough Council, County Council, Road Board, Town Board, Harbour Board, or Education Board.
3 Validating expenditure by local authorities i connection with vsit of H.M.S. New Zealand.
All moneys expended or liabilities incurred by any local authority during the financial year ending on the thirty-first day of March, nineteen hundred and fourteen, for the purpose of taking part in the reception, welcome, or entertainment of, or in respect of any presentation to, the officers and crew of His Majesty’s battleship “New Zealand,”
or in paying or refunding any travelling or other personal expenses incurred by any member of a local authority in connection with such reception, welcome, or entertainment, shall be deemed to have been lawfully expended and incurred.
4 Authorising and validating expenditure by local authorities in respect of Auckland Exhibition.
(1.)
Every local authority shall be deemed to have had and to have authority to expend out of its ordinary revenues moneys for the purpose of collecting and preparing exhibits for, and for the hiring of space at, the Exhibition proposed to be held at Auckland during the years nineteen hundred and thirteen and nineteen hundred and fourteen, and for such other purposes in connection with the said Exhibition as the local authority deems proper.
(2.)
Every local authority shall also be deemed to have had and to have authority to contribute to any fund that has been or may hereafter be established for any purpose in relation to the said Exhibition, whether the expenditure of the fund is controlled by the said local authority or not.
5 Validating certain expenditure in connection with local government conference.
All moneys heretofore expended by any local authority in paying or refunding any travelling-expenses incurred by any of its members or officers in connection with a conference of delegates representing local authorities, held in Wellington in the month of May, nineteen hundred and twelve, shall be deemed to have been lawfully expended.
