This Act may be cited as the West Coast Settlement Reserves Amendment Act, 1914, and shall form part of and be read together with the West Coast Settlement Reserves Amendment Act, 1913 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

The power conferred upon the Native Land Court by the principal Act to partition the lands to which that Act applies shall extend and be deemed to have extended to all lands within the definition of “reserves” as defined in the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1892.

On any partition of such lands the Native Land Court may exercise all the powers of exchange, consolidation of interests, laying off road-lines and private ways, appointing successors, or otherwise howsoever which the Native Land Court might exercise in its ordinary jurisdiction.

In the exercise of its jurisdiction the Native Land Court may award any areas held by Natives under occupation licenses to the holders of such licenses, and may award any areas held under the leases referred to in section two of the principal Act to the Natives who in the opinion of the Court are likely to enter into bona fide occupation of such lands on the expiry of the extended leases provided for by the principal Act:

Provided that the Court shall make awards as aforesaid only if the same can be done with a due regard to the just claims of all the owners to particular areas.
