An Act to amend the Local Railways Act, 1914.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Local Railways Amendment Act, 1920, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Local Railways Act, 1914 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Section 2 of principal Act amended
Section two of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding thereto the following definition:—
“‘Railway’ includes an extension of a railway.”
3 Section 3 of principal Act (providing for constitution of railway districts) amended
Section three of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding thereto the following subsection:—
“(3.)
On a like petition signed by not less than one-fourth of the ratepayers of any defined area adjoining a railway district, the Governor-General may, by Proclamation, alter the boundaries of that district by the inclusion therein of that adjoining area. Any expenses incurred in connection with and preliminary to the constitution of the district shall be assumed by the Board on its constitution.”
4 Gauge of railways under principal Act
(1.)
The gauge of every railway to be constructed under the principal Act shall be of such width as the Governor-General in Council may determine.
Repeal
(2.)
Subsection one of section fifty-five of the principal Act is hereby repealed.
