An Act to repeal certain Enactments, and to continue the Operation of certain Expiring Enactments.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Statutes Repeal and Expiring Laws Continuance Act, 1921.
2 Enactments repealed.
The enactments mentioned in the First Schedule hereto are hereby repealed to the extent indicated in that Schedule.
3 Duration of certain expiring enactments extended.
The enactments mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto shall continue in force until the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and twenty-one, and shall then expire unless further continued.
4 Duration of section 20 of Finance Act, 1918 (affording protection to local authorities in respect of loans falling due), extended.
(1.)
Section twenty of the Finance Act, 1918, is hereby revived as from the expiry thereof, and shall be deemed to have been continuously in force as from the passing of the said Act, and shall continue in force until the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and twenty-one, and shall then expire unless further continued.
(2.)
The said section twenty is hereby consequentially amended as follows:—
(a.)
By omitting from subsection one the words “So long as a state of war exists in New Zealand, and for twelve months thereafter,”
and substituting the words “While this section remains in force”
;
(b.)
By omitting from subsection one the words “within the said period,”
and substituting the words “while this section is in force”
; and
(c.)
By omitting from subsection two the words “expiration of the period of twelve months after a state of war has ceased to exist in New Zealand,”
and substituting the words “expiry of this section.”
