An Act to amend the British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Act, 1923.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Amendment Act, 1924, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Act, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Natives of Western Samoa may be naturalized notwithstanding that they may not have knowledge of English language.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in paragraph (b) of section five of the principal Act, in its application to Western Samoa, as provided in section fourteen of that Act, it shall not be a condition of the naturalization of any Samoan, as defined in the Samoa Act, 1921, that he has an adequate knowledge of the English language.
3 Section 9 of principal Act amended.
Section nine of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the word “passing,”
and substituting the word “commencement.”
