An Act to dispense with the Statutory Requirement that a Census be taken in the Year Nineteen hundred and thirty-one.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Census Postponement Act, 1930, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Census and Statistics Act, 1926.
2 Postponement of quinquennial census.
(1)
Unless the Governor-General shall otherwise direct by Proclamation issued after the passing of this Act, the census which by section four of the Census and Statistics Act, 1926, is required to be taken in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-one shall not be taken, and the first census to be taken in accordance with that section shall be taken in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-six.
(2)
The said section four shall be read subject to the provisions of this section.
