This Act may be cited as the Tramways Amendment Act, 1930, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Tramways Act, 1908.

In respect of any electric tramway on which are operated “one-man” cars only (meaning thereby carriages on which one person acts both as driver and conductor) and which is approved for the purposes of this section by the Minister of Public Works, it shall not be necessary for an applicant for examination under section two of the Tramways Amendment Act, 1910, to submit with his application a certificate of service as a conductor, as provided by subsection five of that section, if he submits a certificate by the manager of such electric tramway that he has served in connection therewith for a period of not less than one year as a car-cleaner or car-examiner, and has in the company of an experienced driver traversed, at least six times during the course of training required by the said subsection five, every route of the tramway on which he may be required to drive a carriage; but any electric-tram driver’s certificate issued to such person shall not entitle him to drive any carriage other than a “one-man” car on an approved electric tramway.
