An Act to amend Section Nine of the Housing Amendment Act, 1921–22, and to extend the Duration of the Law relating to the Restriction of Rent.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Rent Restriction Act, 1930.
2 Enlarging the rights of landlords as to recovery of possession of dwellinghouses that are subject to Part 1 of War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916.
Section nine of the Housing Amendment Act, 1921–22 (defining the grounds on which landlords may recover possession of dwellinghouses that are subject to Part I of the War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916), is hereby amended by repealing paragraph (d) of subsection one thereof, and substituting the following paragraph:—
“(d)
That the premises are reasonably required by the landlord for any purpose not being the letting to another tenant.”
3 Extension of duration of law as to restriction of rent until 1st August, 1931. Repeal.
(1)
Part I of the War Legislation Amendment Act, 1916, and the several amendments thereof, in so far as those enactments are in force on the passing of this Act, shall continue in force until the first day of August, nineteen hundred and thirty-one, and shall then be deemed to be repealed.
(2)
The Rent Restriction Continuance Act, 1929, is hereby repealed
