This Act may be cited as the Sovereign’s Birthday Observance Act, 1937.

Where in any Act, award, industrial agreement, or other agreement, or in any order of any Court or in any other instrument of authority in force on the ninth day of June, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, reference is or was made to the Sovereign’s birthday, such reference, unless inconsistent with the context, shall in respect of that year be deemed to have been to the said date, and not to the fourteenth day of December.

Where in any award, industrial agreement, or other agreement, or in any order of any Court or other instrument of authority that has come into force since the ninth day of June, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, or that may hereafter come into force on or before the fourteenth day of December, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, reference is made to the Sovereign’s birthday, such reference, unless inconsistent with the context, shall have no application in respect of the year nineteen hundred and thirty-seven.

Where in any Act, award, industrial agreement, or other agreement, or in any order of any Court or in any other instrument of authority for the time being in force reference is made to the Sovereign’s birthday, such reference shall in respect of every year of the reign of His Majesty King George the Sixth, subsequent to the year nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, be deemed to be a reference to the first Monday in June and not to the fourteenth day of December.
