Preamble
WHEREAS by subsection two of section one of the District Courts Act 1947, it is provided that that Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed for the commencement thereof by the Governor-General by Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as follows:—

This Proclamation may be cited as the District Courts Act Commencement Order 1948.

The District Courts Act 1947, shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine.

Issued under the authority of the Regulations Act 1936.
Date of notification in Gazette: 16th day of December, 1948.
