An Act to Amend the Tongariro National Park Act, 1922.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
1922, No. 31
This Act may be cited as the Tongariro National Park Amendment Act, 1948, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Tongariro National Park Act, 1922 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Amending constitution of Tongariro National Park Board.
1927, No. 46
(1)
Section five of the principal Act, as amended by section three of the Tongariro National Park Amendment Act, 1927, is hereby further amended by repealing paragraphs (h) and (i) of subsection three, and substituting the following paragraphs:—
“(h)
The member or members of Parliament for the electoral district or districts in which the park or any part thereof is for the time being situated:
“(i)
One member to be appointed by the Royal Society of New Zealand, who shall hold office for three years from the date of his appointment, or until the appointment of his successor, and shall be eligible for reappointment:
“(j)
One person to be appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister as representing the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand:
“(k)
One person to be appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister as representing the Ski Council of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand:
“(l)
Two persons to be appointed in that behalf by the Governor-General in Council and to hold office during his pleasure:
“(m)
Not more than four other persons to be appointed in that behalf by the Governor-General in Council.”

Section six of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in paragraph (a), before the words “He shall hold office”
, the words “Except in the case of a member appointed under paragraph (l) of subsection three of the last preceding section”
.
Repeals. 1924, No. 55
(3)
Section one hundred and thirty-four of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1924, and section three of the Tongariro National Park Amendment Act, 1927, are hereby consequentially repealed.
