An Act to amend the Military Training Act 1949.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title. 1949, No. 23

This Act may be cited as the Military Training Amendment Act 1952, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Military Training Act 1949 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Medical examination to include X-ray, visual, and dental examination.

Section ten of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “medical examination before a Medical Board”, and substituting the words “medical, X-ray, visual, or dental examination”.

3 Production of certificate of registration and other documents.

The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section fifty, the following new section:—

“50a

Any constable may require any person who may reasonably be supposed to be subject to registration or liable for any service under this Part of this Act to produce his certificate of registration (if any) or any documents relating to any of the matters specified in subsection one of section fifty of this Act forthwith if he has the same in his possession, or to produce at any specified place within a specified time any such certificate or document that he has under his control or may be able to obtain.”

Section fifty-nine of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the definition of the term “apprentice”, and substituting the following definition:—

“‘Apprentice’ means an apprentice within the meaning of the Apprentices Act 1948, and includes any person employed in any employment the time served in which is part of a qualifying period prescribed by or under any Act for any trade, profession, or calling; and ‘contract of apprenticeship’ has a corresponding meaning:”.
