An Act to postpone the Patea by-election until the date of the Onslow by-election.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Patea By-election Act 1954.
2 Patea by-election to be held on same date as Onslow by-election.

The writ issued under the Electoral Act 1927 on the third day of June, nineteen hundred and fifty-four, for the election of a member of Parliament for the electoral district of Patea is hereby revoked.
(2)
On the date of the issue of a writ for the election of a member of Parliament for the electoral district of Onslow pursuant to the warrant issued on the eighteenth day of June, nineteen hundred and fifty-four, a fresh writ shall be issued for the election of a member of Parliament for the electoral district of Patea, and in each writ the same days shall be named for the nomination of candidates, for the polling, and for the return of the writ.
