An Act to amend the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1947
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Magistrates’ Courts Amendment Act 1956, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1947 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and fifty-six.
2 Salaries of Magistrates
(1)
Section six of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection one (as substituted by section twelve of the Finance Act 1954), and substituting the following subsection:
“(1)
Every Magistrate shall be paid a salary at the rate of two thousand two hundred pounds a year.”
(2)
Section twelve of the Finance Act 1954 is hereby repealed.
