An Act to amend the Wool Labelling Act 1949
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Wool Labelling Amendment Act 1957, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Wool Labelling Act 1949 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Labelling of pile fabrics and floor coverings
(1)
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in section two, after the definition of the term “container”
, the following definition:
“‘Floor covering’ means any product or portion of a product which is capable of use as a covering for a floor or any portion thereof; but does not include a pile fabric:”.
(2)
Section two of the principal Act is hereby further amended by repealing paragraph (c) of the definition of the term “wool product”
.
(3)
Section three of the principal Act is hereby amended—
(a)
By inserting, before the words “the percentage by weight of wool in the product”
where they first appear in subsection one and also where they appear in subsection two and in subsection three, the words “in the case of any pile fabric or floor covering (the pile or other surface yam of which contains wool) the percentage by weight of wool in the pile or other surface yarn, and in the case of any other wool product”

By omitting from the proviso to subsection one the words “by weight of wool in the product”
, and substituting the words “to be shown as aforesaid”
.
