An Act to amend the Explosives Act 1957

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Explosives Amendment Act 1958, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Explosives Act 1957 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Storage of explosives in private magazines

Section thirty-one of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:

“(5)

Every person commits an offence against this Act who—

“(a)

Stores in a private magazine any explosive in excess of the maximum quantity specified in the licence granted under this section in respect of that magazine; or

“(b)

Does any act in contravention of or fails to comply with any term or condition of any such licence.”

3 Danger buildings

Section thirty-three of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in subsection one, after the words “part of a building”, the words “and every magazine (whether a building or part of a building or not)”.
