An Act to amend the Immigration Restriction Act 1908

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Immigration Restriction Amendment Act 1958, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Immigration Restriction Act 1908.

2 Penalty for offences

(1)

Section eleven of the Immigration Restriction Amendment Act 1920 is hereby amended by omitting the words “one year”, and substituting the words “three months”.

(2)

Section six of the Immigration Restriction Amendment Act 1951 is hereby amended by omitting the words “twelve months”, and substituting the words “three months”.

3 Repealing provisions as to oath of obedience

The following enactments are hereby repealed:

(a)

Part II of the Immigration Restriction Amendment Act 1920:

(b)

Section two of the Immigration Restriction Amendment Act 1923.
