An Act to amend the Social Security Act 1938
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Social Security Amendment Act 1959, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Social Security Act 1938.
2 Payment of family benefit in advance
Section twenty of the Social Security Amendment Act 1958 is hereby amended by adding the following subsection as subsection two thereof:
“(2)
For the purposes of paragraph (a) of subsection one of this section, the Commission, in determining whether any child is the first child of the marriage, shall disregard any previous child of the marriage who lived for a period of only thirty-one days or less and in respect of whom payment of the family benefit in advance has not been made under the provisions of that subsection.”
