An Act to amend the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Royal New Zealand Air Force Amendment Act 1962, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Gratuities to members of Air Training Corps
Section 16 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in paragraph (cc) of subsection (1) (as inserted by section 4 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Amendment Act 1959), after the words “Territorial Air Force”
, the words “or of the Air Training Corps”
.
3 Pay and allowances of members of Air Force
(1)
The principal Act is hereby further amended by inserting in Part II, after section 23, the following section:
“23a.
“(1)
Subject to any regulations made under section 16 of this Act, the pay, allowances, expenses, and grants (not being gratuities or end of service grants payable on completion of service) payable to officers and airmen and to members of the Air Training Corps and the amounts of any qualifying allotments under any such regulations shall be at such rates or of such amounts as are from time to time prescribed by the Minister with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.
“(2)
Any such rates or amounts may relate to a period commencing on or before or after the date on which they are prescribed.
“(3)
All rates and amounts prescribed under this section shall be published in the Gazette:
“Provided that special allowances payable to members of the Regular Air Force in respect of service outside New Zealand shall be published in such manner as the Air Board decides.”

Section 16 of the principal Act is hereby further amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of subsection (1) the words “training, pay, and allowances of officers and airmen, including”
, and substituting the words “and training of officers and airmen, and”
.
(3)
Section 16 of the principal Act is hereby further amended by repealing paragraph (c) of subsection (1), and substituting the following paragraph:
“(c)
Prescribing the gratuities or end of service grants (if any) that may be paid to officers and airmen of the Regular Air Force on completion of service and prescribing the conditions upon or subject to which those gratuities or grants will become payable:”.
(4)
The Pay and Allowances Notice 1960 as from time to time amended shall continue in force and have effect after the passing of this Act, as if it had been issued pursuant to section 23a of the principal Act (as enacted by subsection (1) of this section).
This Act is administered in the Air Department.
