An Act to amend the Secondhand Dealers Act 1963
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Secondhand Dealers Amendment Act 1964, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Secondhand Dealers Act 1963 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and sixty-four.
2 Motor vehicles acquired for dismantling
(1)
Subsection (1) of section 12 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the proviso, and substituting the following proviso:
“Provided that where a licensee acquires—
“(a)
Scrap metal; or
“(b)
A secondhand motor vehicle for the purpose of wrecking or dismantling it,—
it shall be sufficient compliance with this subsection if the date of the acquisition, a full description of the nature and quantity of the metal or, as the case may require, a description of the motor vehicle, and the name, residence, and occupation of the person from whom he acquired the metal or vehicle are included in the entry, and no entry shall be required in respect of the disposition of the metal or the parts of the motor vehicle.”
(2)
Subsection (3) of section 12 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “scrap metal”
, the words “or a motor vehicle”
.
