This Act may be cited as the Finance Act (No. 2) 1964.

The Governor-General may from time to time, in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, undertake or enter into contracts for the construction of the railway mentioned in the Schedule to this Act to the extent specified in that Schedule.

The cost of constructing that railway shall be paid out of money to be appropriated for that purpose by Parliament.

This section shall be deemed to be a special Act (authorising the construction of that railway to the extent specified in the Schedule to this Act) within the meaning and for the purposes of the Public Works Act 1928, which Act, so far as applicable, is hereby incorporated with this section.

All property included in a succession order or vesting order made by the Maori Land Court or the Maori Appellate Court on or before the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and fifty-five, and on which Maori succession duty under section 87 of the Estate and Gift Duties Act 1955 as originally enacted or the corresponding provisions of any earlier enactment has not been paid before the passing of this Act is hereby declared to be exempt from that duty.

The Mail Ships Act 1891 of the United Kingdom Parliament shall cease to have effect as part of the law of New Zealand.

For the purposes of section 51 of the Superannuation Act 1956, the period from the twenty-seventh day of June, nineteen hundred and forty-six, to the fifteenth day of March, nineteen hundred and fifty, served by Cecil Arthur Brew as Audit Officer for New Zealand while stationed in Western Samoa shall be deemed to be service as an employee of the Western Samoan Public Service.
