An Act to amend the Land Drainage Act 1908

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1964, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Land Drainage Act 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Penalty for breach of bylaws

(1)

The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 50, the following section:

“50a

Bylaws made pursuant to section 50 of this Act or section 8 or section 9 of the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1913 or section 5 of the Land Drainage Amendment Act 1920 may prescribe a fine not exceeding fifty pounds for any breach thereof and, where the breach is a continuing one, a further fine not exceeding five pounds for every day or part of a day during which the breach has continued.”

Section 50 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (2).
