72 Registered office of society


Every society shall, as from the date of its incorporation, have a registered office in New Zealand to which all communications and notices may be addressed.


Subject to the provisions of this Act, the registered office of a society shall be that specified in its rules.


Where the chief office of any society incorporated before the date of the commencement of this Act and in existence on that date is not the office as specified in its rules, the society shall notify the Registrar, within 1 month after that date, of the situation of its chief office, and that office shall, until notice of any change is given to the Registrar, be the registered office of the society for the purposes of this Act. On receipt of the notification, the Registrar shall forthwith notify the appropriate District Registrar of Companies of the situation of that office.


If a society fails to comply with subsection (3), the society, and every officer of the society who is in default, shall be guilty of an offence against this Act.
