An Act to amend the Penal Institutions Act 1954
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Penal Institutions Amendment Act 1965, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Penal Institutions Act 1954 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Offences
Section 44 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (2), the following subsection:
“(2a)
Every person commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding fifty pounds who wilfully trespasses without lawful excuse on any land knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that it is part of a penal institution.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Justice.
