An Act to amend the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Amendment Act 1965, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act 1941 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Money to be paid into bank
Section 111 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (2), and substituting the following subsection:
“(2)
No money shall be withdrawn from the bank except by authority of the Board and by cheque signed by the Treasurer and countersigned—
“(a)
By a member of the Board; or
“(b)
With the prior consent of the Audit Office, by any officer of the Board whom the Board, by resolution, from time to time appoints for the purpose.”
3 Remuneration
(1)
Section 13 of the principal Act (as substituted by section 5 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Amendment Act 1959) is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (9a) (as inserted by section 2(3) of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Amendment Act 1962), the following subsection:
“(9b)
The Chairman of a Catchment Commission may be paid out of the funds of the Commission such annual allowance, not exceeding three hundred pounds in any case, as may from time to time be fixed by the Commission with the approval of the Minister.”
(2)
The principal Act is hereby further amended by inserting, after section 114, the following section:
“114a. Remuneration of members
A Board or Catchment Commission may pay to each member, not being the Chairman of a Board or Commission, remuneration at the rate of thirty shillings in respect of each meeting of that Board or Commission or of any committee thereof attended by him:
“Provided that the total amount that may be paid under this section to any member in any financial year shall not exceed the sum of seventy-eight pounds.”
(3)
This section shall come into force on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and sixty-six.
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Works.
