An Act to amend the Auckland Harbour Bridge Act 1950
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Auckland Harbour Bridge Amendment Act 1965, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Interpretation
Section 2 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting in the definition of the term “bridge”
, after the word “includes”
, the words “any extensions authorised by this Act and”
.
3 Extensions to bridge
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 21, the following section:
“21a
“(1)
The Authority is hereby authorised and empowered to construct, maintain, manage, and control such extensions to the bridge as may be necessary for the provision of a total of eight traffic lanes and to construct, carry out, and maintain all other works necessary for the construction, maintenance, management and control of any such extensions to the bridge and the approaches thereto.
“(2)
The provisions of this Part of this Act shall, with the necessary modifications, apply to the extensions authorised by this section in all respects as if the construction of the extensions were the construction of the bridge authorised by section 21 of this Act.
“(3)
Subject to the provisions of subsection (2) of this section, the provisions of this Act shall, as far as they are applicable and with any necessary modifications, apply to the extensions authorised by this section.”
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Works.
