An Act to amend the National Roads Act 1953
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the National Roads Amendment Act 1965, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the National Roads Act 1953 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and sixty-five.
2 Advisory and technical committees
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 10, the following section:
“10a.
“(1)
The Board may from time to time, by resolution, appoint or discharge or alter or continue or reconstitute such advisory or technical committees as it thinks fit to advise the Board on such matters concerning the functions of the Board as are referred to them by the Board.
“(2)
Any person may be appointed to be a member of a committee under this section notwithstanding that he is not a member of the Board.
“(3)
Subject to any directions given by the Board, every such committee shall determine its own procedure.
“(4)
There shall be paid out of the Fund to the members of any such committee travelling allowances and expenses in accordance with the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951, and the provisions of that Act shall apply accordingly as if the committee were a statutory Board within the meaning of that Act.”
3 Customs duties on tyres
(1)
Section 22 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing paragraph (d) of subsection (2).
(2)
Section 22a of the principal Act (as inserted by section 9 of the National Roads Amendment Act 1959) is hereby consequentially amended by omitting from subsection (1) the words “paragraphs (a) to (d)”
, and substituting the words “paragraphs (a) to (c)”
.
(3)
The following enactments are hereby consequentially repealed:
(a)
The National Roads Amendment Act 1960:
(b)
So much of the Second Schedule to the Customs Acts Amendment Act 1961 as relates to the principal Act.
4 Payment out of Consolidated Revenue Account
Section 22 of the principal Act is hereby further amended by omitting from subsection (3) (as substituted by section 3(1) of the National Roads Amendment Act 1958) the words “being not less than one million pounds”
.
This Act is administered in the Ministry of Works.
