An Act to amend the Industrial and Provident Societies Act

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1965, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1908.

2 Use of word “cooperative” in name of society

Section 33 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1939 is hereby amended by adding the following subsections:

“(4)

Where it is shown to the satisfaction of the Registrar that a society is a bona fide cooperative society the name by which that society may be registered under the principal Act may include the word ‘cooperative’.

“(5)

If a society so registered has its registration cancelled, or if the Registrar notifies any such society that, in his opinion, it has ceased to be a bona fide cooperative society, subsection (4) of this section shall cease to apply to it.”
