An Act to amend the Motor-Vehicle Dealers Act 1958
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Motor-Vehicle Dealers Amendment Act 1966, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Motor-Vehicle Dealers Act 1958 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Approval of sureties to bond
(1)
Section 5 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (1) the words “a surety or sureties approved by the Registrar”
, and substituting the words “one or more approved sureties”
.
(2)
Section 5 of the principal Act is hereby further amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:
“(1A)
For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section, the term ‘approved surety’ means—
“(a)
Any person declared by the Secretary for Justice, by notice in the Gazette, to be an approved surety for the purposes of this section:
“(b)
Any person approved by the Secretary for Justice as a surety for the purposes of any specified application for a licence.”
(3)
Nothing in this section shall affect the validity of any bond given under section 5 of the principal Act and in force at the passing of this Act.
This Act is administered in the Department of Justice.
