An Act to amend the Hospitals Act 1957

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Hospitals Amendment Act 1967, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Hospitals Act 1957 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Payment of honoraria to Chairmen of Hospital Boards

(1)

The principal Act is hereby amended by repealing section 39, and substituting the following section:

“39

“(1)

Any Board may, if it thinks fit, pay to its Chairman as an honorarium for his services a sum not exceeding in any year the amount which the Minister of Health, with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance, has approved in that behalf:

“Provided that in no case shall the sum so approved exceed two thousand dollars in any year.

“(2)

Payments under this section may be made by monthly or other instalments as the Board thinks fit, but in no case shall any such payment be made more than one month in advance.”

(2)

Section 3 of the Hospitals Amendment Act 1962 is hereby consequentially repealed.

3 Manager and acting manager of licensed hospital

Section 135 of the principal Act is hereby amended as from the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and sixty-seven, by adding the following subsection:

“(8)

For the purposes of this section, the terms ‘registered midwife’, ‘registered nurse’, and ‘registered psychiatric nurse’ mean a registered midwife, a registered nurse, and a registered psychiatric nurse within the meaning of the Nurses and Midwives Act 1945.”

This Act is administered in the Department of Health.
