An Act to amend the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1908

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1967, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Increasing amount payable to nominated person on member’s death, etc.

(1)

Section 9 of the principal Act (as amended by section 18(1) of the Statutes Amendment Act 1940, section 2(1) of the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1964, and section 7(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964) is hereby further amended—

(a)

By omitting from the proviso to paragraph (e) the words “six hundred dollars” where they first occur, and substituting the words “one thousand dollars”:

By omitting from the same proviso the words “six hundred dollars” where they secondly occur, and substituting the words “two thousand dollars”:

(c)

By omitting from paragraph (f) the words “six hundred dollars”, and substituting the words “one thousand dollars”.

Section 2 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1919 (as amended by section 18(2) of the Statutes Amendment Act 1940 and section 7(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964) is hereby further amended by omitting from subsection (1) the words “six hundred dollars” in both places where they occur, and substituting in each case the words “two thousand dollars”.

Section 18 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1940 is hereby repealed.

(4)

The Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1964 is hereby repealed.

3 Increasing value of shares that member may hold

(1)

The Second Schedule to the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from clause 5 (as amended by section 4 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1923 and section 7(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964) the words “six hundred dollars”, and substituting the words “two thousand dollars”.

(2)

Section 2 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1923 is hereby amended by omitting from the proviso to subsection (1) (as amended by section 7(1) of the Decimal Currency Act 1964) the words “six hundred dollars”, and substituting the words “two thousand dollars”.

(3)

Section 4 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Act 1923 is hereby consequentially repealed.
