An Act to amend the Waitangi National Trust Board Act 1932
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Waitangi National Trust Board Amendment Act 1968, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Waitangi National Trust Board Act 1932 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Additional power to grant leases
Section 3 of the principal Act (as amended by section 3 of the Waitangi National Trust Board Amendment Act 1958) is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:
“(3)
In addition to the powers conferred on the Board by paragraph (xii) of clause 15 of the said declaration or deed of trust, and notwithstanding the provisions of the said declaration or deed of trust, the Board may, in respect of any land for the time being vested in it and in such manner as it thinks fit, grant leases for a term not exceeding thirty-three years, with or without a right of renewal, perpetual or otherwise, but with no right of acquiring the fee simple, and at such rent and upon such terms and conditions as the Board thinks fit; and the Board may accept surrenders of any such leases on such conditions as it thinks fit.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Lands and Survey.
