An Act to amend the Minimum Wage Act 1945

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title and commencement

(1)

This Act may be cited as the Minimum Wage Amendment Act 1968, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Minimum Wage Act 1945 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

(2)

This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the twenty-fourth day of November, nineteen hundred and sixty-seven.

2 Workers to whom Act applies

Section 3 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing paragraph (a) of section 3, and substituting the following paragraphs:

“(a)

Apprentices to whom the Apprentices Act 1948 applies:

“(aa)

Apprentices bound by an indenture of apprenticeship entered into under the Maori Housing Amendment Act 1938, the Government Railways Act 1949, the New Zealand Army Act 1950, the Post Office Act 1959, or the State Services Act 1962, or under any other Act:”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Labour.
